Jan-Paul Lukas

Jan-Paul Lukas was born in Pennsylvania and relocated to the Eastern Shore when he was 10 years old. He graduated high school from the Salisbury School in Wicomico County where he currently volunteers his time as a mock trial coach for the school’s team. After high school he attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina where he studied philosophy. During his collegiate career Mr. Lukas began his practice in legal advocacy being placed on his university’s mock trial team, at which time they were nationally ranked as a top 10 mock trial institution. After undergrad Mr. Lukas attended the Ave Maria School of Law in Florida where he continued to practice his advocacy skills by participating in courses from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.
After Law school Mr. Lukas went directly into private practice and then was eventually chosen to be a Judicial Law Clerk in the Circuit Court for Wicomico County for the Administrative Judge. After finishing his 1 year appointment as a Judicial Law Clerk Mr. Lukas returned to private practice and since that time has dedicated himself to being a litigation attorney, representing clients in the District and Circuit courts of Wicomico County, Worcester County, Somerset County, Dorchester County, Caroline County, and Queen Anne’s County.
Mr. Lukas has tried contested parking tickets all the way to major felony cases. The other focus of his practice is Family law where he has successfully litigated complex custody, property, and support issues for his clients. In addition to representing his own clients Mr. Lukas is proud to be certified in child counsel training where he has been appointed in multiple counties to represent the best interests for children who are in the middle of contentious litigation. Mr. Lukas’ unique experience in both family and criminal law has also served his success in obtaining protective and peace orders
